Overview
Malazmna, meaning our study booklets, is an Arabic education app for intermediate and preparatory school students in Iraq. It gathers what students hunt for all year in one place: official textbooks, teacher-written booklets, ministerial past papers, schedules, holiday dates and exam results.
Mahmoud built the Android app end to end as a freelance Flutter developer, and it was released in 2022 with a public demo video. The source is not in his archive, so this page documents only what the released app shows.
The challenge
- 01
Study material was spread across Telegram channels and websites, so finding the right file for a grade and subject took time.
- 02
A single download link is not always reachable, so students needed more than one way to get each file.
- 03
In exam season, students check the same things daily: days left until a holiday, and whether results are out.
Highlights
Study materials
- Six home sections: books, booklets, schedules, ministerial exams, timings and holidays.
- Content organised by grade, then by subject.
- Every file offers two download sources: a direct link or a Telegram mirror.
- Ministerial past papers grouped per subject, for example Arabic papers from 2011 to 2021.
Exam season tools
- Holidays screen with a live countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds.
- Results centre with a link for each exam round, such as Third Intermediate and Sixth Primary 2022.
Experience
- Fully Arabic RTL interface with a bottom navigation bar and a side menu.
- Light and dark themes, switchable from Settings.
- Settings for dark mode, website, contact, about, rate and share.
Signature feature
From category to PDF in two taps
- The app's main job is getting the student to the right PDF fast: pick a section, then a grade, then the file.
- Direct opens the file straight from its host.
- Telegram opens the same file in the channel where it is mirrored, which helps when the direct host is slow or blocked.

Two download sources per file
Each file card has a direct link and a Telegram mirror, so students use whichever source works on their network.
- 02
RTL first
All screens, cards and the drawer are built for Arabic right-to-left reading, with button rows, back arrows and icons following the direction.
- 03
Theme parity
The study flow, side menu and settings all have matching light and dark versions.
- 04
Live countdown
Each holiday card counts down to a fixed date, down to the second.
Results
