Overview
HamilGuide helps expecting mothers follow their pregnancy day by day: when the baby is due, what is happening this week, how blood pressure, sugar and weight are trending, and how often the baby kicks.
After birth, it keeps going with a baby tracker for feeding, sleep and development. One Flutter codebase ships to Android, iPhone and iPad, in Arabic, English, French, Spanish and German.
The challenge
- 01
Medical dates are easy to get wrong: mothers need a due date calculated the way doctors do it, and many track dates in the Hijri calendar.
- 02
Too many apps for one journey: a calculator, a notes app, reminders and forums had to become one place.
- 03
Health data must be quick to log. A kick session or a sugar reading should take seconds and be ready for the next doctor visit.
- 04
The app is free and ad-supported, so ads had to fit in without breaking the experience.

Signature feature
Pregnancy calculator and daily trackers
- The mother picks Gregorian or Hijri and enters the first day of her last period with year, month and day pickers; Hijri months use
hijri_picker. - The app computes the due date, current week and day, time remaining and trimester, and shows them as a progress ring.
- Kicks, pressure, sugar and weight are posted to the HamilGuide REST API through Dio and listed back as a history with averages and normal, high or low labels.
- Reminders are scheduled as local notifications, so they fire even without a network connection.

Engineering notes
- 01
Two calendars, one result
The calculator accepts Gregorian or Hijri input with localised month lists for both. The result always shows the due date, elapsed weeks and days, and what is left.
- 02
Server-backed trackers, local notes
Kicks, pressure, sugar and weight go to the backend so history follows the user across devices. Personal notes and to-dos stay in on-device SQLite, and weekly content is fetched in the user's language.
- 03
Reliable reminders
Doctor visits, vitamins and medication are scheduled as local notifications through a dedicated Alarm cubit, independent of the backend.
- 04
Five languages, RTL and LTR
Around 350 string keys go through
easy_localization, and layouts switch direction with the locale. - 05
Phone, tablet and iPad
Relative sizing with
sizerandscreenutillets the same build ship iPad screenshots on the App Store. - 06
